Today is the first day of a five-week trip to France and England. There are three parts to this trip – the first is a visit to Burgandy region of France to learn about its medieval church architecture. Then, two weeks will be spent traveling around England to look at five cathedrals I selected to develop a new class for the Osher Institute. The third and final leg takes place in northern France looking at French Gothic cathedrals and abbeys. In France, the churches our travel group will see include Cluny, Sens, Reims, St Denis, Chartres, and Amiens. In England, I will be traveling alone to spend extended time at Canterbury, York, Peterborough, Norwich, and (hopefully) Winchester Cathedrals.
I have visited most of the English cathedrals several times over, but have only seen these French churches in photos. While I explore medieval churches in person, here is a shout-out to my tech guru husband, who created this website and will be home posting this blog and photos. Thanks to technology, we take journey together, albeit separated by the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks for your interest!
